The questions to ask before the third date

Most people ask what someone does for work, where they grew up, what they studied. Those questions are easy, and they tell you almost nothing about what it is like to actually build a life with someone.

The questions that matter are less comfortable. How do you handle being disappointed? What does it look like when you don’t get your way? Who taught you what love is supposed to feel like, and was that person worth learning from?

We ask our clients to sit with these before a third date, not because romance should feel like an interview, but because clarity early spares everyone the slow unravelling later.
